All parents like this Liberian mother and child want their children to grow up under the most favourable conditions of health and security in order to enjoy a rich and fruitful life. But every year the world's population is growing by 60 million persons. Whether or not this is really a threat is examined in this issue along with some of the possible consequences of th,e population expansion today and in the foreseeable future.
