Yugoslavia: a kaleidoscope of cultures

The visitor to Yugoslavia is immediately overwhelmed by the extraordinary variety of the country's artistic heritage. In fact its territory has been criss-crossed down the centuries by so many political and cultural boundaries, divided into so many States and shared between so many different languages and religions that it would be more appropriate to speak of several heritages.
