This event has been solemnly commemorated by Unesco and by many countries throughout the world. Unesco's Executive Board, meeting in Paris in May, marked the occasion with a special ceremony, and last month (October) Unesco organized an international forum on the subject in Warsaw with the Polish National Commission for Unesco.
