From-To: Syria to France
Education Level: Doctorate
Story: Mohammad is a Syrian socio-linguist now working at the University of Montpellier, France. He was recruited thanks to the @PAUSEprogramme, organised by the French government, which supports scholars in exile. He now works on the plight of Syrian refugees, the difficulties they face, in terms of the linguistic, religious, cultural and life-style differences they have to adapt to on leaving their country. He assesses the extent to which refugees are welcomed and integrated, or not, on arrival, as well as the impact of the trauma they faced in their home country on their well being.
