The UNESCO Category 2 Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures in Almaty, Kazakhstan with support of the UNESCO Office in Almaty, will organize a scientific conference entitled, "Central Asia on the Great Silk Road: Dialogue of Cultures and Religions from Antiquity to Modernity". This conference will take place in Almaty from 13 to 15 July 2018. It is organized within the context of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022).
The main goal of this conference is to provide a broad discussion platform in scientific areas, such as historical geography. This deals with population migration as a factor of cultural genesis in the historical past and in modern conditions. The next is urbanization and features of the nomadic way of life in Central Asia. This includes caravan cities and the prerequisites for their emergence. Following is communication of the peoples of Central Asia, which deals with various issues such as spiritual life, art and early mythological and religious systems, confessions, and their mutual influence. Another area includes transport, logistics, and infrastructure as a means of communication. Moreover, economic and social problems as a source of migration flows fits into this category. The last scientific area includes the potential of the countries of Central Asia to preserve their cultural heritage, and nominate them on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Conference languages will be Kazakh, Russian, and English.
